Useful Tricks

The “Window” Upgrade: See if you can upgrade to a room with a window when you book. The “windowless” rooms are less expensive and excellent for sleeping in total darkness, but a view of the outside helps with claustrophobia and lets one see what the weather is like before stepping out.

Experience the "River of Life" at Night: Don't just visit the river during the day. At night (normally past 8:00 PM), that's when all fountains and mist machines turn on, with lighting not only within the mosque but also outside it. This is one of those places which KL folks would term as most Instagrammable that is literally in your backyard.

Eat Like a Local: Avoiding food at the hotel, walking to a nearby Mamak stall for Roti Canai and Teh Tarik (pulled tea) in the morning. Finding a Nasi Kandar restaurant nearby during lunchtime, having rice with different curries. The prices are so cheap, and this is how the real taste should be.

Modest dressing: The hotel is located near the mosque and in a more conservative area (near Masjid India). It would be respectful to the immediate neighborhood to walk around its environs in modest clothing. This makes it easier if you plan to visit inside the Masjid Jamek mosque (visiting hours apply).

Avoid Peak Hour Check-in: The lobby can get busy and the streets around the hotel are packed during rush hour (5:00 PM - 7:00 PM). Try to arrive mid-day or later in the evening to make navigating your luggage through the crowds easier.
